At HBX Group, we believe in doing things efficiently and with purpose. During the renovation of our offices in Mallorca, we identified an opportunity to repurpose surplus materials and transform them into something meaningful for both our company and our community. This project was born from that idea, combining sustainability, social impact, and innovative design.

Project objectives

  • Give a second life to our office materials, reducing waste and promoting the circular economy.
  • Generate a social impact by providing job opportunities for people with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, strengthening the regional economy.
  • Reduce environmental impact by minimizing transportation emissions and using local products and recycled textiles.

This project is the result of collaboration between key local players, each bringing their expertise to life in creating the chairs.

    Collaboration for a positive impact

Chairs with purpose: HBX Group gives a second life to old furniture, generating social impact

So, how were these chairs made?

Here are the steps taken to make this project a reality:

      Creation process in Fundación Esment
      Surplus material from
      our offices in Mallorca
      Final result!
        • Local wood: The wood is sourced from Mallorca’s estates, specifically from cleaning processes aimed at fire prevention and storm-damaged forests. By using local products, we support the island's economy and promote sustainable forest management, contributing to the conservation of ecosystems.

        • Zero waste - Smart reuse: Reusing materials minimises waste generation and extends the life of materials.

        • Reducing CO₂ across the process: Opting for local and recycled materials resulted in a significant reduction in emissions generated by transportation and the production of new materials.

        • Benefits for the local community: By working with local suppliers, we foster the local economy and generate a positive impact on the community.

        • Labour inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities: The project provides active participation of this group, enabling them to strengthen their integration into the labour market.

Supporting local can mean committing to both the community and the environment!

This project is an example of how design, social responsibility, and sustainability can come together to create a positive impact. At HBX Group, we continue to invest in initiatives that allow us to grow responsibly while contributing to the well-being of our community.
