At HBX Group, we believe that the future of tourism lies in sustainability and inclusivity, ensuring that travel is accessible to everyone. As part of our Sustainability Waves initiative, we have launched a dedicated Accessibility for Reduce Mobility People Marketing Campaign, aimed at promoting and improving accessibility standards in hotels worldwide.

With over 1.3 billion people worldwide living with disabilities, accessibility is not just a necessity—it’s a fundamental right. Our latest campaign is focused on raising awareness, providing practical tools for hotel partners, and improving the travel experience for guests with reduced mobility.

To create meaningful impact, we have structured the campaign into three waves, each providing valuable insights and resources to our hotel partners:

What have we done?

As a core element of this campaign, we have developed an Accessibility Guide to support hotel partners in making their facilities more inclusive.

In this guide, hotels can find:

    • Key accessibility standards and best practices to ensure barrier-free spaces.
    • Recommendations for improving key areas, including entrances, public spaces, guest rooms, and dining areas.
    • Insights on legal and industry requirements for accessible hospitality.
    • Guidance on small, impactful changes that can make a big difference in guest experience.
    • A step-by-step approach to evaluating and upgrading hotel accessibility features.

    Making travel more accessible

The Sustainability Wave - Accessibility for Reduce Mobility People Marketing Campaign - is about providing hotels with the right tools and information to take action. By improving accessibility, hotels can:

      • Raise awareness of the need to adapt hotels for this sector.
      • Improving customer experience and increased target audience.
      • Be align with market trends.

      Partnering with ILLUNION Hotels

To strengthen the campaign, we collaborated with ILLUNION Hotels, a brand with 30 fully accessible hotels in Spain. Its inclusive hotel model is an example for the industry. Its philosophy is presented in this video, which aims to inspire other hotels to improve accessibility.

        What are the Sustainability Waves?

Sustainability Waves is an initiative launched by HBX Group in 2023 to drive real, measurable change in the travel and hospitality industry. This programme helps hotel partners implement and showcase sustainable practices while improving their overall ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance.

Since its launch, Sustainability Waves has successfully led initiatives focused on:

          • Eliminating single-use plastics across hotel operations.
          • Improving accessibility to ensure a more inclusive experience for all travelers.
          • Implementing zero-waste practices to reduce environmental impact.

Building on this progress, the next phase of Sustainability Waves will focus on:

            • Promoting pet-friendly hotels and raising awareness of the Animal Welfare Policy.
            • Advancing universal accessibility through the second phase of the accessibility campaign.
            • Encouraging the installation of electric chargers in hotels to support sustainable mobility.
            • Expanding the single-use plastic-free initiative.
            • Highlighting inclusive menus, promoting hotels that cater to dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Everyone deserves a smooth and comfortable travel experience—let’s make inclusion the standard.
